CrossFit is booming.
It is fast becoming the most popular form of exercise for the general population, and has revolutionised the fitness industry. Some of the things that make CrossFit so good are..
- Sessions are planned in advance and are clearly spelled out so you know exactly what you are in for
- It's group based coaching, so assistance is there if you need it
- It's over and done with in an hour - warm up and cool down included
- You are not alone - you are doing it with a bunch of people who get it
- It's all about community
But we often get asked the same questions...
Can I do CrossFit?
Will I be able to keep up?
Am I fit enough?
Will I be able to do the exercises?
The answer is yes,
Yes you will.
The number one, hands down, best thing about CrossFit is that it is for EVERYONE.
Regardless of your age, exercise history, ability, injuries or physical limitations, you can do CrossFit.
A skilled coach will be able to identify if you need to scale or modify a programmed exercise or movement, and will provide you with a variation. Take pull ups for example. Here we can make it easier by using band to reduce the load, change the grip to provide better leverage, or regress the movement to ring rows. You also have a responsibility to keep the communication lines open with your coach and let them know if you are not feeling so great, are injured, or would like to scale a particular exercise.
All this aside though, the most important thing is that you are giving it a go. The hardest part is always getting started.
Remember, fitness is a journey, not a destination
